MILLDOWN® reduced sodium sea salt is a new and unique reduced sodium salt suitable for use in salt mills or grinders. Finally consumers can enjoy the experience of freshly ground salt with full sea salt flavour and a significant reduction in their discretionary salt intake. MILLDOWN® reduced sodium sea salt can be used both as an ingredient for cooking and for seasoning food at the table.
When developing the product we spoke with a number of potential customers who gave us some feedback on what they would look for in our product. We took this all into account in the development of MILLDOWN® and created a product that fulfils everybody’s wishlist:-
1. Taste:- a consumer panel could not find any significant differences between the tangy taste of sea salt and MILLDOWN® reduced sodium sea salt.
2. Crunch:- the crystals crunch when ground down
3. Colour:- the bright clean white colour renders the product indistinguishable from regular salt crystals
4. Natural:- there are no added flowing agents
5. Healthy:- when ground down, reduced sodium sea salt contains at least two thirds less sodium than other salt crystals.
